Tibetan Opera
Kathmandu, Nepal 2000Dear Diary,
Three years? In some ways it feels like it, but in others it's been a lifetime since I left Atlanta the day after my last show at the Theatre and headed for Kathmandu, Nepal.. Supposedly I was coming back in two and a half weeks. Ha. That turned into three months, during which time I fired myself from the band to stay in Kathmandu in a Buddhist monastery and find out more of the ways of the East.
Going to the mountaintop up there in the Himalayas was unbelievable. I met many holy people-- gurus, saddhus, lamas (the human kind)-- and meditated about 4 weeks in silence. Thus began a whole new thang.
But as cool as that has been, I missed the hell out of music. So after some scheming and bargaining, I am really happy to be back screaming, cackling, and bustin out on the big stage of life.
There is a lot going on, among which is a new album in the works. We'll start playing it soon.
