I know- I've been truant.
Sorry, DD- I am so damn sorry. But I have an excuse- we have been really busy. Will 7 shows in two weeks get me off gthe hook?
It all started with Main Street in Murfreesboro. We had a little problem with some very rare technical difficulties with the PA and didn't start til after 12, but the crowd hung in there like a champ. We were stressed until we got started, but once we got underway, it was cool.
The Auburn Zetas then had us for their formal in Atlanta at the Westin. We had a blast. Wendy did not run naked as she had promised to do if we agreed to play, but she and all the other gals did look great. Thanx!
With an old girlfriend and a bunch of friends in Paris, I was delighted find out that the Social Chairman was an authentic wine-drinking fun-loving Frenchman. Guillaume and I swapped some lies, but neither of us and then we played away. The party took place in the basement because of rain; nevertheless everybody was in very good form. Merci, Lambda Chi.
That was all a coupla weeks ago. This past week we were a bunch of Travelling Pumkins, what with Halloween and everything. I must say that the Lambda Chi party in Athens won the costume award. John Wayne Bobbitt was especially memorable for his disgusting yet hilarious outfit, but the band was partial to the French maids (a dominant theme throughout the week) and the other girls there. Everybody was quite witty. And pithy.
9 1/2 hours away on the Memphis Showboat was a little Scare Ride waiting for us the next day coutesy of the University Of Memphis. We have been boat people before and were not sure how the party would go given that all-school parties can be hit or miss. But there was a really fun crew there. The place looked great and the turnout was super. Tammy Hedges and the folks did a great job throwing a real throwdown.
Friday was another Newby's thing. I emceed a costume contest there, and boy, were there some great ones. A very excellent Frankenstein who remained in character the entire night won, but I was partial to the girls who dressed up as mixed drinks. They were VERY creative.
Saturday found your weary travellers in Knoxville at Flamingo's. It was our best crowed there yet, and we had a ball. The good vibes that fell upon in Ktown with the news of Florida's loss already had things going in the right direction, and we hung ten on the wave. Coooool.
