Dear Diary,
I was wearing my top hat New Year's Eve but forgot my spats. Damn. I was wondering why people were staring at me. Well, I'll take attention any way I can get it- or will I? There certainly have been few, if any, limits I wouldn't go to, but you never know...
Seriously, folks, NY was a blasssst. We had about 900 show up this year. They were hearty souls all. Wives (3 of us are married), girlfriends, and love slaves were all in attendance, and I think many in the audience made the most of the evening one way or another. My favorite part of the night was this cute girl in a crew of cute girls who told me to announce they had nobody to kiss at 12:00 and they were ready and willing to lay one on the lucky guys who took them up on it. Public Servant Mel made the announcement, of course. There was a taker or two, of course.
Kandace, Constance, JoLynn and Laurie all looked fine in their pearls and tiaras; Tony was the only guy in the band who observed the dress code and came in a tux. The rest of us were sadly lacking. I was an embarrassment to all my ancestors, including the goats and gnats I have been reincarnated from. I told them I would do better next life.
Ha, ha, ha.
Anyway, everybody stayed until the bitter end. It was probably the most enthusiastic crowd we have had on New Year's, so I must say, ummmm..... THANK YOUUUUU!
After the champagne had rained we went to Newby's last Friday. it wasn't the biggest crowd we've had there, but considering the post nuclear conditions we were playing in, it was quite nice. That anybody at all got out the weekend after the Dec 31 blowout amazed me.
