Albany GA, the Warehouse, Mainstreet,
Flamingo's
Fis what I get for not writing you any earlier, Diary Dear. I have been vera vera busy but I know that's no excuse. You want something done, ask a busy person, right?
FYI, I must say that what I did last week was very cool. Microsoft held its web conference in Palm Springs,CA and Mel was there. For three awe-inspiring days. This is the True Revenge of the Nerds- all the geeks are making money hand over fist working on mind-boggling stuff while lesser mortals buy their gizmos at the store.
Anyway, the whole thing was extremely well run. First rate from start to finish. Lots of razzle dazzle in the presentations by guys who just started shaving (well, almost) and are really good at what they do. I saw the future pass before my eyes and hopefully you'll see alot of it on this site in the not-too-distant.
But this was no more fun than the past 3 weeks on the road. To wit:
Club 13 was a gas. We probably had our best show ever there. I don't know what it was. El Nino? Maybe. Whatever, we hope to get back there before too long- and next semester would be. And Mr. Mike the club owner is one of THE coolest.
Last year this same time we had to cancel our show at the Georgia Theater during what was arguably the shittiest day in MPH history. We got stuck in the ice near Sewanee and only got out of it (with our lives)
the next day. It was dangerous as all getout. Shook us all up for several weeks. This year we thought we were seeing deja vu all over again. Nice weather led us to believe we would coast our merry way down to Athens, but Nay. Fate had other tricks up its sleeve in the name of horrible accidents ahead of us and all-purpose highway mayhem. Thought we might have to cancel again but made it to Athens by the hair of our chinny chin chin. Blast then. Love ya, Dawgs.
On to Albany. I don't believe anybody has ever been as psyched for us as the great group of 23 high school girls. The threw a senior party and invited us to play, We RSVP'd in the affirmative. When we got there I thought we might be at the wrong place- the girls were too mature-looking and stylin' - but we checked our heads and the identities of same and yes we were in the RIGHT place. At the right time. Thanks, girls for a wonderful eve. Can we come back next year?
One of the first frats we ever played was Lambda Chi Alpha at UT. We've been there a bunch and always had a great time (except for the dark day the PA company skipped on us and I had to sing thru Mr. Microphone- hurting). Everybody has always thought the great amphitheater they have outside was the place to play there. It may well still be, but they had us in a different room- the dining room - and it was like we were in the Grand Canyon or somethin. Faboo. Great move, guys.
Yes, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WE CAN FIND at the Lamdbda Chi's in Knoxville. (We learned it there many moons ago).
Back in Tennessee the next week we played our little hearts out. First stop was the Warehouse in Clarksville, which we had not darkened for some time prior to. Fun-o-rama. El Nino again? We expect to be back soon. Negotiations underway.
Next night- Mainstreet in the 'Boro. Murfreesboro, that is. A bevy of maidens and some hell for leather cats made our first weekend date there special. The owners really have the club hopping with an updated PA and it already was a great facility. Anyhoo, we're gonna be doing it alot more there after this past time there.
A few days off then right back to Knoxvegas and Flamingo's. What can I say other than it was a breakout night. We've always had very enthusiastic crowds there before, but we had not gotten the thing full. Not this time. We want to thank all those who came for an awesome turnout. I would have cried but my tear ducts were broken. And besides, Lucky was crying for me. We'llllll be back!
