Dear Diary,
Well, I must apologize for getting back to you after so long an absence. But I do have a good excuse: pneumonia. Yes, Mr. Mel was way sick for almost 3 weeks with a bug that bit really hard. The bout included a knockdown that resulted in a hospital stay and a 15 pound weight loss. It was bad. No, it sucked. But I'm OK now, thank goodness.
Last weekend was the first time we played in a month as I had to cancel two shows in the meantime to mend- doctor's orders. It was the first time in quite some time I have had to cancel- 2 or 3 years at least.
Needless to say, it was great to get back up on stage and do our thing once again. Musicians get a little stir crazy after any kind of break at all, so after almost 30 days off we were certifiably mental. 5 wacked out dudes arrived in Atlanta itching to play. When we gamboled on stage at the Chameleon we were a little out of shape (this thing is more like a sport than you would think), but we all got a second wind the second set. This burst of energy lasted only as long as the show then we collapsed in a flaming heap after getting back to our hotel post haste. Thanks to the UGA, Tech, Auburn,and Bama people in for the holidays who came by as well as the permanent locals who drip dropped on in.
With one gig under our belt, playing 5 Points the next was a tad easier. It helped that there were almost 1500 people there to cheer us on. Lots of Bama and Auburnians were on hand along with tax auditors, the IRS, secret police, and various creditors who knew our whereabouts (just a touch of a joke there). Anyhoo, thanks to all.
Come see us this New Year's Eve here in Nashville at 328 Performance Hall. it's our biggest show of the year.
