Ft Wayne, Chicago, LexingtonDear Diary,
Well, we made it- back from the frozen tundra we call the North.
I lied- actually, the weather was excellent...
Back to Fort Wayne (aka Fort Fun) and Columbia Street. What can I say- we like playing there. It's the first new market we have broken in some time, so it feels great to get a good response and, at the same time, have familiar faces curse us by name. I thought I was going to have to kick somebody's ass and then found out they don't even use that term up there. So muttering to myself, who does know this term, I kicked my own. It felt good. We said hi to Santa Claus and the Abominable Snowman, and gave them Elvis Trading Cards (I saved the good ones for myself).
Chicago. The hardest working town in show biz. In another life, I used to live there in an area called the Near North. For 5 years I had one of the best times of my life working at Leo Burnett and hitting the nite life with the ol' 1-2. So I am always tickled to come back to the scene of the crime .We were back in Chicago on Friday night to play Banana Joe's, a sports bar there. I want to thank all the people who came to see us. It wasn't a perfect fit for the band, but the club is nice (of course, we are all VERY nice, too).*
We had played Kentucky years ago and could never get anything to stick, but it seems the Teflon has finally worn away and we soon will be making funny noises with Lexington bluegrass. Our pal and agent Bill Puryear discovered the place, and it turns out to have been a helluva find. It's a real rock club with nice production- and a volleyball court! They call it the A1A Club and Sandbar (get it?). The owners are vera nice, and we got good indications we'll be back soon. We hope so...
This week- a party for Mercedes in Bham, AUburn two days in a row, Fiji Ga Tech, and then the Montgomery Jubilee on Sunday. Whew.
