GA Theatre, Exit/In, Sammy T's:
Looks like It's Gonna Be a....

Good year.

Dear Diary,

Up, up and away in our boot-iful balloon...

It has started. We had liftoff and remain aloft. Houston was not called to guide us down.

Such was the poetry of our return to the GA Theatre in Athens that I damn near wrote a sonnet on the spot. (However, I couldn't as I was busy fixing my skirt and screaming at my seamstress to take the four-leaf clovers OUT of the design.) Seriously, the Theatre was the last gig we played before our break, so it was only fitting we rebegan there. I'd use the term bookends...no, that's literary, but not poetic. Okay, it was a block of shock rock wherein we turned forward the clock...

700 folks showed up-- where did they come from? I noticed nary a conscript, and Duck and Kyle, the owners, swear everybody who came in paid, so I can only assume they remembered us and came out to see if we could still cobble together a show. Well, it felt like we did. Like always, the production was just awesome and the vibe of fair Athens hasn't slipped a bit. People there are very game and totally rock and roll. I swear it seemed like people were clapping and screaming the whole damn time. Was I seeing things? They gave me a polygraph afterwards and it said nooooo.

Nashville. Exit/In. Our hub (for all except Bama Mark, our drummer). It had been six or seven years since we'd played there, the place where the band really got rolling some 18 (!-- What the fuck?) years ago. We used to play there a weekend a month shortly after we began. Happy as hell am I to say we had a nice crowd. It was teeming with friends and maybe a foe, and the new owners have got the club at a new level in terms of the vibe of the tribe.

It was a big yay.

As for our latest gig, that would be Sammy T's, right down the street in Huntsville, AL. Now, a lot of you know we have played the great state of AL around 400 times (literally-- now, don't youuuu doubt me), but we'd only been in Rocketville twice. Now it's got a FAB new club, Sammy T's, owned by... Sammy, of course. Turns out it's one of the happening venues in the South! 700 showed up to gawk, gaze, and graze. Some were dazed while others looked amazed. Purple Haze.

Okay, this poetry thing has got to stop.

Be fruitful and multiply.

Mel
